How and Why

February 15, 2007

Knowing how something works is drastically different than knowing why something works. I prefer to know how.

Uh Oh

February 13, 2007

I’m a bit worried. Soap is changing his headlights, and already he’s taken a chunk of flesh out of his knuckles down to the bone, and now he’s grabbed a hammer. Something ain’t right.

Comings and Goings

February 13, 2007

I’m still trying to figure out who is where and doing what now at Flock. There’s been quite a shift in folks, and it wasn’t completely obvious who was going where.

Who’s going:

Ian Loic left Flock to work on Songbird, which is immensely cool. Take Firefox and a music player, throw them in a Blendtec blender, and season with a few tasty features, and you’ve got Songbird. It’s quickly becoming my number one new application. The cool part  is that he gets to continue working with the same code. Open source projects are awesome, eh?

Will Pate is kinda leaving, taking a part time position for the time being. Community Ambassador extrordinaire, and quite the guest host for a rockin podcast. If you ever find yourself bored, just start to browse his Flickr photostream and take in the wonderful shots.

We’ve picked up quite a few folks on the other hand, and all are truly talented.

First off, Flocker and Rocker Evan Hamilton joins the ranks. Check for him on the blog, or at one of many conferences and demonstrations.

Then there’s Flock North, which is a bunch Flockstars chillin in the great white north (aka Victoria, BC) workin on the browser by now you surely know and love ;-).

I’m pretty proud to work with these fine folks, I just wish my schedule was nicer so I could collaborate more. Starting Thursday, I will be rearranging my schedule so this works.

Check it out. It’s like a Christian Myspace, except for it doesn’t have any of the crappy features of Myspace (for the most part). Looks very promising.

Addiction: (n) Quizno’s Peppercorn Prime Rib Sandwich

Curse you Lew and your “Lackey, come on, it’s time for some super caffeinated tea at 11pm!” -ness.

Not sure how I will make my 8am… Or 9:30am for that matter…

Getting Through

February 12, 2007

First ridiculous week starts now. Got an Econ exam at 10am today, followed by a bunch of other stuff. Tomorrow, I conquer the zoning laws as they pertain to the mathematics of surveying (funnily enough, this is my Wastewater/Water Tech class) and hand that in for a grade, as well as a loverly 8am exam, sure to cheer away the winter woes. Wednesday I get to take my Make-Or-Break exam for Structures (basically, if I pass, or feel good about it at least, I will have a good semester). And finally , Thursday I have a ridonculous 10-pager about the financial society of Nintendo due. Friday, well, who knows what will be due then.

Thank goodness for the weekend.

More like, thank goodness for Daytona! NASCAR kicks off this weekend, and it sounds like that will be my motivation to get crap done.

Made it through Carnival (aka EverybodygettheirlovedonesupherewhileLackeysitsonhiscomputerwaitingforJillsbuddyicontochangefromawaystatus week) without wanting to grievously injure anyone (although, watching the Wings get blanked by the Blues [first goalless game in 176 games for them] I really wanted to deck Lidstrom). Made chili, played risk, won two broomball games, and watched a ton of hockey. And also started drawing up my Valentines gift for Jill. I’ll actually get some plans drafted electronically and post them. Should be fun.

Keep your stick on the ice, eh.
